After Recess Isn’t the End. It’s Where We Begin.

Recess used to be where we ran, regrouped, and reset. But what comes after it?
For many educators, that question is more than a metaphor. It’s about burnout, identity, and the quiet hope that something meaningful is waiting beyond the classroom. After Recess was built for that pause. It’s the breath between teaching and transformation.

Why This Space Exists

I created After Recess for educators in every stage: staying, pivoting, homeschooling, or simply searching for more. Not because you’ve lost your value, but because you’re finally claiming it.

This space exists to offer clarity when your next step feels uncertain, practical tools when you need a starting point, and encouragement when you’re carrying more than anyone realizes. My hope is that every story, resource, and reflection helps you move forward with a little more confidence and a little less pressure.

Emotional support that respects your capacity and your story

Your leadership doesn’t live only in a classroom. It shows up in every decision, routine, and act of care.

For a long time, I believed the struggle was simply part of the job.

I believed exhaustion meant I cared.

I believed sacrifice was the price of making a difference.

Like many educators, I carried work home, worried about students after hours, and spent countless weekends trying to catch up. Somewhere along the way, I stopped asking whether the pace was sustainable and started assuming it was normal.

Eventually, I realized I needed to ask a different question.

Not, “How do I keep doing this?”

But, “What would happen if I allowed myself to imagine something different?”

That question changed my life.

After Recess was born from that question.

Welcome to After Recess. The bell may have rung, but the meaningful work is just beginning.
